The father of a nine-year-old female child has formally filed a criminal lawsuit at the local police station against a 65-year-old man, accusing him of sexually assaulting his daughter. The young victim is currently a student enrolled in the third grade at a local elementary school. The incident occurred in the Kendua Upazila of the Netrokona District, triggering an immediate institutional investigation by local law enforcement authorities to apprehend the suspect.
The formal verification of the criminal case was delivered by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Kendua Police Station, Mo. Mehedi Maksud, during the post-afternoon hours on Tuesday, 9 June. According to the administrative statement provided by the police department, the severe offence was committed on Saturday morning when the child went to a nearby wetland area, locally referred to as a haor, to retrieve cattle for her family. The elderly suspect took advantage of the isolated location to perform the assault.
Identity of the Accused and Incident Details
The individual officially accused in the police case has been identified as Abdur Rahim, aged 65. He is the son of the late Abdul Hekim and a permanent resident of Pangaon village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Maska Union within the Kendua Upazila.
According to the official First Information Report (FIR) documented by the police station, the event occurred on Saturday, 6 June, at approximately 10:00 am. The mother of the third-grade student had sent the young girl to the haor located adjacent to their residential home to bring back their domestic cows.
When a notable period passed and the child failed to return home on schedule, the mother became concerned and personally walked out to the wetland area to investigate the cause of the delay. Upon failing to see her daughter immediately upon arrival, the mother initiated a systematic search across the open terrain.
During the search, she discovered Abdur Rahim actively engaging in the sexual assault of her young child underneath a local gab tree situated in the middle of the Dhaleshwar Haor. Hearing the screams and vocal distress of the victim, the mother quickly moved closer to the specific spot. Observing her approach, the 65-year-old suspect immediately ceased the assault and fled the crime scene on foot.
Village Cover-up Attempt and Medical Relocation
Following the initial exposure of the criminal event, certain influential local village arbiters, traditionally referred to as society leaders, deliberately attempted to suppress the matter and shield the elderly perpetrator from legal accountability. Despite these localised obstruction efforts, the proactive intervention of the police department ensured that the case proceeded through the legal framework.
On the evening of Monday, 8 June, the child was officially admitted to the Kendua Upazila Health Complex for medical evaluation. Due to the physical nature of the trauma, the attending medical officer on duty promptly referred the young victim to the Netrokona Sadar Hospital for comprehensive medical examinations. The father of the child formally noted in the written poolice grievance that the delay in initiating the legal process was caused by the family requiring vital consultation periods with other relatives following the localised interference.
Law Enforcement Statements and Police Action
Commenting on the severe situation, the mother of the child stated that her minor daughter had been subjected to a deeply cruel and horrific experience, leaving her completely devastated. She issued an urgent appeal to the Upazila administration, strongly demanding that the individual responsible for the act be brought under the immediate scope of the law.
The Officer-in-Charge of the Kendua Police Station, Mo. Mehedi Maksud, confirmed that the victim’s father formally registered the statutory rape case against Abdur Rahim on Tuesday at approximately 2:00 pm. The primary accused individual has fled his known residences and remains a fugitive. The police head concluded his statement by verifying that law enforcement units are currently executing targeted tracking operations to arrest the suspect as quickly as possible.
