Seventeen years ago, a young Sania Sultana Liza took her first steps into the Bangladeshi music scene, winning the CloseUp One competition in 2008. Little did anyone know that this young talent would go on to become one of the country’s most recognisable and admired singers. Since then, Liza has consistently wowed audiences with her soulful voice, electrifying stage performances, and a genuine connection with her fans.
Today, Liza continues to shape her career with intention and creativity. She recently released ‘Nei Odhikar’, a song composed and arranged by Hridoy Khan, which has been praised for its originality and the emotive power of both the vocals and the accompanying video. Reflecting on her career, Liza shared, “Seventeen years in music feels like a dream. I no longer create songs purely for views; I choose projects that have lasting meaning. ‘Nei Odhikar’ is one such project, and in the future, I will continue to explore unconventional styles while remaining true to my own artistic vision.”
Alongside recording music, Liza has embraced the role of mentor and judge. She is currently part of the judging panel for RTV Little Star: Agamir Kontho Shor, alongside veterans Ferdous Wahid and Jiniya Jahan Lipa. Liza expressed her delight at discovering talented young singers through the show, noting that many participants show exceptional promise and skill. Her involvement as a mentor highlights her commitment to nurturing the next generation of performers and giving back to the music community.
Even with her busy schedule, Liza remains a familiar presence on stage. In recent weeks, she has performed in Dhaka and Chittagong, bringing her energetic and heartfelt performances directly to fans. She says, “Performing live is an essential part of my work. There are several upcoming shows, and I hope to make this season memorable for everyone who comes to see me.”
