A tragic road accident claimed the life of a pickup van driver and left his assistant seriously injured in Manikganj Sadar Upazila last Friday, 20 February 2026. The collision occurred around midday on the Manikganj–Singair road, near the Arangbad Tower Station, in front of Obak Hotel.
The deceased has been identified as Md. Gias Uddin, 45, son of Sahab Ali of Uttar Aynapur village, Saturia Upazila. The injured helper, Mahbub Hossain, 18, is currently receiving treatment at Manikganj Sadar Hospital.

Accident Details
According to police reports and local sources, a head-on collision occurred between a pickup van and a drum truck travelling in opposite directions. The impact was severe, leaving the pickup van completely mangled. Md. Gias Uddin was killed instantly at the scene, while Mahbub Hossain was rescued by bystanders and rushed to the hospital for emergency care.
The accident temporarily blocked traffic along the road until officers from Manikganj Sadar Police Station arrived and cleared the wreckage, restoring normal traffic flow.
