Three Die In Separate Incidents In Chunarughat

Three people died in separate incidents in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj on the same day, leaving the local community in mourning. The incidents took place in three different unions of the upazila on Monday (13 July), according to local sources and police.

The first incident was reported from West Pakuria village under Mirashi Union, where 32-year-old Jamal Mia, son of Abdul Rafiq Kontor Mia, died after allegedly hanging himself at his home. Local residents said Jamal had been suffering from mental health difficulties for a long time. Family members reportedly discovered him at the residence and attempted to rescue him, but he had already died.

Another tragic incident occurred in Ujjalpur village under Paikpara Union on the same day. Parveen Begum, 40, wife of Jahangir Mia, died after allegedly consuming poison. According to local residents, her family members found her in a critical condition and tried to take her to a hospital for treatment. However, she died on the way before receiving medical assistance.

In a separate incident in Karimpur village under Sadar Union, a young man died after being electrocuted. The deceased, identified as 21-year-old Shipon Mia, reportedly suffered the fatal accident while attempting to steal electric wires. Local people rescued him and rushed him to a hospital, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

The three deaths, which occurred in different parts of Chunarughat within a single day, have caused grief and concern among residents. While the circumstances surrounding each incident are different, the sudden loss of three lives has deeply affected their respective families and the wider community.

Chunarughat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shafiqul Islam confirmed the deaths. He said police have taken the necessary legal steps regarding the separate incidents and investigations are underway to determine the exact causes behind each death.

Authorities said further details would become clear after the completion of the investigations. Police have also urged residents to remain cautious and seek immediate assistance from relevant authorities in emergency situations to prevent similar tragedies.
