Rangpur Quadruple Murder: Chilling Undelivered Parcel Marks Family’s Fate

A quiet residential enclave in Rangpur has been gripped by sorrow and disbelief following the brutal murder of four members of the same household. As neighbours in the Machhuapara locality attempt to comprehend the scale of the violence, an extraordinarily poignant detail has emerged surrounding a package addressed to one of the deceased, twenty-three-year-old Agami Chakraborty.

Dispatched through Steadfast Courier, the consignment reached the front door of the Chakraborty home only to find the premises sealed by tragedy. Upon arriving to complete the delivery, the courier driver discovered that the intended recipient and her relatives had all been slain inside. Left with an unthinkable situation, the courier agent recorded a stark, heartbreaking note on the logistics tracking portal: “Customer murdered with family.”

The logistics firm’s chief executive officer, KM Ridwanul Bari Zion, brought the grim exchange to light on social media, expressing deep condolences and mourning the loss of a promising young life and her kin.

The victims comprised Ganapati Chakraborty, 65, a revered former educator from Rangpur Zilla School; his wife, Pritilata Chakraborty, 50; their daughter, Agami Chakraborty, 23; and their twelve-year-old son, Priyam Chakraborty. Agami had recently concluded her postgraduate degree at Carmichael College and stood on the threshold of a new life, with her wedding arrangements having just been finalised. A mere few days before the tragedy struck, her fiancé, Odit Kar, had sent her an affectionate and supportive message: “Do not worry, Agami. I was with you, I am with you, and I will always be with you.”

Officers from the local police station entered the locked house late on Saturday night, 22 August, discovering the four bodies at approximately 11:30 PM. Relatives had alerted law enforcement after failing to establish contact with any member of the family since midnight on Thursday.

Detectives piecing together the timeline revealed that the killings took place late on Thursday night. Two young men, identified as Siddhartha Das, 19, and Mugdha Das, 23, had crept onto the roof of the property via an adjoining building under construction, intending to consume contraband methamphetamine tablets, known locally as yaba.

When Ganapati Chakraborty went upstairs to investigate the commotion and confronted the intruders, a violent struggle broke out. The pair overpowered the elderly retired teacher, strangling him with a cotton towel (gamcha). Driven by panic and determined to leave no surviving witnesses, the assailants went room to room downstairs, suffocating Pritilata, Agami, and schoolboy Priyam in identical fashion.

Police moved swiftly to arrest both suspects following the discovery of the scene. Brought before a magistrate, Siddhartha and Mugdha recorded confessional statements under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, detailing the entire sequence of events. Both youths have been remanded in judicial custody as prosecutors prepare the formal indictment.
