Liberty Specialty Markets has officially entered the Asian fine art and specie insurance market, aiming to offer tailored protection for high-value assets to both individuals and institutions. The expansion reflects the company’s ambition to capitalise on a region where demand for specialised insurance solutions is rapidly increasing.
The new offering encompasses comprehensive coverage for fine art, general specie, cash-in-transit, and jewellers’ block, with flexible options for unique and complex risks. Liberty can underwrite limits of up to $250 million for fine art and general specie, while cash-in-transit and jewellers’ block policies carry maximum limits of $30 million.
Supporting this initiative is a global team of nearly 40 fine art and specie specialists, whose expertise blends local market understanding with international claims and underwriting proficiency. This combination allows Liberty to provide both standard and bespoke solutions, accommodating the increasingly sophisticated needs of high-net-worth individuals and institutions across Asia.
“The Asian market for high-value assets is evolving quickly. We provide coverage not only for paintings and sculptures but also for bullion, collectible cars, and curated wine and whiskey collections,” said Edrick Tang, Senior Underwriter, Fine Art & Specie Asia.
Tang joined Liberty in January 2026 and is leading the underwriting and business growth for the product line in the region. He works closely with brokers, agents, and clients to structure complex placements that address the unique risks associated with transporting, storing, and displaying valuable items.

Insurance industry observers note that Liberty’s entry addresses a gap in Asia for high-value asset protection that combines substantial underwriting capacity with local expertise. With Tang leading the charge, the company seeks to offer solutions that balance global resources with in-depth regional knowledge, catering to everything from bullion storage in Singapore to rare car collections in Hong Kong.
This expansion positions Liberty Specialty Markets as a serious contender in Asia’s growing fine art and specie insurance market, supporting clients who require precise, customised coverage for some of their most treasured assets.
