The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast temporary gusty or strong winds accompanied by rainfall and thunderstorms across several parts of the country over the next five days. Despite these intermittent showers, daytime and nighttime temperatures are likely to rise slightly in many regions.
On Sunday (29 March), meteorologist Md. Shahinul Islam reported that an upper-level low-pressure system currently over West Bengal and adjacent areas is influencing the country’s weather. At the same time, a seasonal low-pressure system remains over the southern Bay of Bengal. This combination is expected to produce scattered rainfall and occasional thunderstorms across different divisions.
In the immediate 24-hour period, temporary gusty winds with rainfall or thunderstorms may occur in parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet. Temperatures across the country are expected to rise marginally during both day and night.
The extended forecast for the coming days is summarised below:
| Date | Divisions Affected | Weather Conditions | Temperature Trend |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 Mar (Mon) | Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet; isolated areas in Rangpur & Rajshahi | Temporary gusty or stormy winds with rainfall and thunderstorms | Day & night temperatures largely steady |
| 31 Mar (Tue) | Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet | Temporary gusty/stormy winds with rainfall and thunderstorms | Day temperature steady; night slightly cooler |

| 2 Apr (Thu) | Sylhet (scattered), Dhaka & Chattogram (isolated) | Gusty winds with rainfall and thunderstorms; elsewhere partly cloudy, mostly dry | Slight rise in day & night temperatures |
The meteorological department advises residents to exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to thunderstorms and strong winds. Riverine and low-lying areas may be especially vulnerable to temporary downpours and gusts.
Overall, the coming week will feature alternating wet and dry spells, with temperatures gradually trending upward across the country. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed through official meteorological updates to prepare for sudden weather changes.
