Family Alleges Threats and Police Inaction
The victim’s mother has expressed profound distress over the lack of progress in detaining the suspect. She alleged that individuals allied with the accused are applying consistent pressure on the family to withdraw the criminal charges and agree to an out-of-court settlement.
Speaking about their plight, the mother stated:
“I am a poor person. Jahangir has ruined my daughter’s life. Now, his people are threatening and intimidating us in various ways, offering settlement proposals and demanding that we drop the case. Initially, the police visited the area to investigate, but we have seen no significant progress since. We are living in terror. I demand exemplary punishment for him.”
Efforts to contact Jahangir Alam and his father via their mobile phones for a response to these allegations were unsuccessful, as both devices remained switched off.
Official Response from Law Enforcement
The police administration has maintained that efforts to locate and detain the suspect are ongoing. Sub-Inspector (SI) Noor Alam, the designated investigating officer from Kalmakanda Police Station, clarified the department’s position regarding the current status of the manhunt and the alleged intimidation.
SI Noor Alam stated that the suspect fled the area immediately following the incident and has been evading law enforcement since. Commenting on the safety concerns raised by the victim’s family, he noted that the police had not received any formal complaints regarding intimidation or coercive settlement demands. He assured the public that operations are underway and expressed confidence that the suspect would be brought to justice shortly.
