Four Suspected Rapists Beaten By Mobs In Three Days

In the first of the recent incidents, a violent mob formed in the Fatullah area of Narayanganj District after allegations emerged that a six-year-old female child had been sexually assaulted by two local youths. Law enforcement officials formally identified the two principal suspects in the case as local residents named Hiro and Sohel.

Incident Dynamics and Medical Transfers in Narayanganj

According to accounts compiled from local residents, the juvenile victim was playing within the immediate vicinity of her residence during the late afternoon when she was deceptively lured to an isolated spot by the suspects and subjected to severe physical abuse. Following a rapid deterioration in her physical condition, family members discovered the assault and transferred the child to the Munshiganj General Hospital. Due to the critical nature of her internal injuries, attending medical staff ordered her immediate transfer to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for specialized clinical care.

As the details of the assault spread through Char Boyargadi, an angry crowd tracked down Hiro at approximately midnight on Friday, inflicting severe physical injuries upon him. Upon receiving emergency alerts, reinforcements from the Fatullah Model Thana arrived at the scene to rescue the wounded suspect from the crowd.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fatullah Model Thana, Mohammad Mahbub Alam, confirmed that Hiro remains under police guard whilst undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka, while his alleged accomplice, Sohel, has been placed under arrest. The victim’s mother filed a formal criminal complaint on Friday night, and the child was subsequently presented before a judicial court to have her official deposition recorded.

Vigilante Retaliation Against Religious Teacher in Patuakhali

Simultaneously, a separate incident of mob violence occurred on Saturday morning, 23 May 2026, in the coastal district of Patuakhali, where local residents detained and assaulted a mosque official accused of serial sexual abuse against minor students. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Bellal Hossain, served as the resident Imam of the Diar Amkholapara Jame Mosque, located within the Lotachapli Union under the jurisdiction of the Mohipur Police Station in Kalapara Upazila.

Local administrative sources revealed that Bellal Hossain had allegedly been using intimidation tactics and material inducements over an extended period to exploit young children attending early morning religious classes (Maktab) at the mosque. The final recorded incident took place late on Friday night, 22 May 2026, in the Ambagan locality under the jurisdiction of the Khulshi Police Station in Chittagong. Local residents formed a crowd and assaulted a local Maktab teacher following allegations that he had attempted to assault two biological sisters who attended his instructional classes. In all four cases, senior district police officials have reiterated that while criminal investigations are being fast-tracked, citizens must refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
