A remarkable feat of academic excellence has emerged from the Tangail district, where twelve-year-old triplets—two brothers and their sister—have all secured prestigious ‘Talentpool’ scholarships in the 2025 Primary Scholarship Examination. The exceptional achievement by the trio has sparked widespread admiration and become the talk of the town across the Sakhipur Upazila.
The three brilliant siblings have been identified as Fatema Akter, Anas Al Mamun, and Arafat Al Mamun. They are the children of Mohammad Shamim, an expatriate worker currently employed overseas, and Arjina Akter, a dedicated local schoolteacher.
The triplets appeared for the highly competitive examination as students of Baheratail Government Primary School. Following their stellar performance, they have since transitioned into secondary education and are currently enrolled in the sixth form at the renowned Sakhipur PM Pilot Model Government School and College.
According to institutional records, Baheratail Government Primary School enjoyed a highly successful examination cycle in 2025, with a total of eight students securing scholarships. The accolades were evenly split, with four pupils earning the elite Talentpool scholarships and another four receiving General Grade scholarships. Remarkably, the triplets accounted for three of the four coveted Talentpool slots awarded to the school.
“These three siblings are exceptionally meritorious and remarkably industrious students. Their collective achievement in securing Talentpool scholarships simultaneously is a momentous occasion and a matter of immense pride for our institution.”
— Yusuf Ali, Headmaster of Baheratail Government Primary School
The triplets’ mother, Arjina Akter, who serves as an assistant teacher at the nearby Ghateshwari Government Primary School, expressed her profound joy and gratitude regarding her children’s success. She noted that the siblings had demonstrated a deep commitment to their studies from early childhood.
Mrs Akter emphasised that the historic milestone was the result of a collaborative ecosystem of support, highlighting the unwavering dedication of the school’s teaching staff alongside constant encouragement from the family. Furthermore, she shared that despite the geographical distance, their father remained actively involved in their upbringing, regularly monitoring their academic progress from abroad and inspiring them to excel. Looking ahead, the family hopes that the children will grow up to become well-educated citizens dedicated to the welfare of their country and society.
The Primary Scholarship Examination in Bangladesh serves as a critical benchmark for evaluating academic excellence at the foundational level. The scholarships are broadly divided into two tiers: the Talentpool category, which is reserved for the highest-scoring students within a respective upazila (sub-district) and comes with a higher financial stipend, and the General Grade category.
Achieving a Talentpool scholarship requires rigorous preparation and exceptional performance across core subjects. For three siblings from the same household to claim these top spots simultaneously is an exceedingly rare event in the history of the regional education board, validating the widespread celebrations currently taking place within the Sakhipur community.
