Schoolgirl Sexually Assaulted in Subarnachar Mob Hands Suspect to Police

A 55-year-old auto-rickshaw driver has been arrested in Subarnachar, Noakhali, following allegations that he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old student inside his daughter’s residence. The suspect, identified as Kamal Uddin, was detained by local residents, beaten, and tied to a tree before being handed over to law enforcement officers on Wednesday evening.

According to police and local sources, the victim, a seventh-grade student, had arrived at the house of her private tutor on Wednesday morning for her routine lessons. Upon finding her teacher absent, the tutor’s father, Kamal, lured the child into a room, locked the door, and allegedly assaulted her. Witnesses stated that the suspect subsequently offered the young girl 500 Taka in an attempt to buy her silence before sending her home.

The child disclosed the ordeal to her relatives upon returning home, prompting outrage amongst the local community. By Wednesday evening, a crowd gathered, apprehended the suspect, and tied him to a tree until officers from Char Jabbar Police Station arrived to restore order and take him into custody.

The victim’s mother formally lodged a case on Wednesday night under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. Char Jabbar Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Rafiqul Hasan, confirmed that the suspect, son of the late Ilias Sawdagor, remains in custody and will be produced before the court following preliminary procedures. The victim was transported to Noakhali General Hospital for forensic medical examination and support services.

Community members have expressed severe distress over the incident, noting the vulnerability of students receiving private tuition outside school hours. Local authorities assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to ensure justice is served swiftly through the legal system.
