Four unarmed police inspectors serving in different units of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have been transferred and assigned to new posts, with one officer appointed as the new officer-in-charge (OC) of Tejgaon Police Station.
The changes were announced in an official order signed by DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed on Tuesday, 1 September. The order stated that the transfers and postings would take effect immediately.
According to the order, Mohammad Moniruzzaman, who had been serving as an unarmed police inspector (investigation) at Uttara-West Police Station, has been appointed as the OC of Tejgaon Police Station. His new assignment places him in charge of the station’s overall policing and administrative operations, including maintaining public order and overseeing the station’s day-to-day activities.
The reshuffle also affects officers working in investigation and operations roles at several other police stations across the capital.
Salah Uddin Kader, previously an unarmed police inspector (operations) at Motijheel Police Station, has been transferred to Ramna Police Station as an unarmed police inspector (investigation). His new responsibilities will centre on handling and supervising investigation-related activities at the station.
Mohammad Nurul Islam, who was serving as an unarmed police inspector (operations) at Paltan Police Station, has been transferred to Adabor Police Station as an unarmed police inspector (investigation).
Meanwhile, Sabbir Mohammad Selim, who had been working as an unarmed police inspector (investigation) at Tejgaon Police Station, has been transferred to Uttara-West Police Station in the same investigation role.
The changes mean that responsibilities within the investigation and operations wings of several important metropolitan police stations will now be handled by different officers. Such postings are part of the administrative management of a large urban police force, where officers may be reassigned between stations and responsibilities according to departmental requirements.
The role of an OC is particularly significant at the police-station level. The officer oversees the station’s general administration and coordinates policing activities, while investigation officers are responsible for handling criminal cases and carrying out investigative procedures. Operations officers, meanwhile, are involved in activities such as patrols, enforcement operations and immediate responses to law-and-order situations.
The official order was circulated to the additional police commissioner, joint police commissioners, deputy police commissioners and other relevant departments for information and necessary action.
The latest reshuffle comes into effect immediately, according to the order. No further reason for the individual transfers or postings was specified in the official directive.
