Hanif was a resident of Habla Uttarpara. He was the son of the late Bir Muktijoddha Baktar Ali Khan. At the time of the incident, Hanif was serving under temporary suspension, according to police and local sources.
Police said Hanif had been returning home from Bilpara Bazar when a group of assailants intercepted him on the way. They allegedly attacked him repeatedly with locally made sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured. The attackers fled the scene shortly after the assault.
Local residents later found Hanif in a severely injured condition and took him to Tangail Medical College Hospital for treatment. However, doctors examined him after his arrival and declared him dead.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohammad Atikur Rahman, in charge of the police box at Tangail Medical College Hospital, confirmed that a seriously injured Ansar member named Hanif had been brought to the hospital on Tuesday night. He said doctors subsequently pronounced him dead.
The victim’s body has been kept in the hospital morgue, and legal procedures are under way, the police official said.

The incident has caused concern among residents in the area. An attack of this nature, particularly on a person returning home at night, has also raised questions about security in the locality. Police, however, have yet to provide any definitive explanation for the assault.
