Police in Manikganj have recovered the bodies of a couple and their eighteen-month-old daughter from their residence in what appears to be a devastating domestic tragedy.
Officers retrieved the remains on Saturday afternoon from a home in Barahi Jannakandi village, situated within the Krishnapur Union of Manikganj Sadar Upazila. The deceased have been identified as 40-year-old Ekram Molla, son of local physician Nur Haq, his wife Priyanka, and their infant daughter Eliza.
First responders found Ekram hanging inside the house, whilst the bodies of his wife and young child lay on the floor. Preliminary examinations revealed visible signs of blunt-force trauma on both the mother and daughter, indicating they suffered violent injuries before succumbing.
Local residents reported that Ekram had recently returned home after spending several years working abroad. News of the sudden deaths sent shockwaves through the quiet village, drawing crowds of distressed neighbours to the homestead as law enforcement secured the scene.
Speaking on the initial findings, Additional Superintendent of Police Moharam Ali stated that the physical evidence points towards a murder-suicide. Detectives suspect that Ekram inflicted fatal head injuries on his wife and daughter before taking his own life. However, senior officers stressed that all possibilities remain under active investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and underlying triggers behind the crime.
Police teams have sent all three bodies to the Manikganj Medical College Hospital morgue for formal post-mortem examinations. Forensic analysis is expected to provide critical clarity regarding the precise cause and timing of death.
Law enforcement personnel continue to collect forensic evidence from the homestead, interview relatives, and reconstruct the family’s recent activities. Formal legal proceedings are currently underway, with a case scheduled to be filed with the local police station as investigators piece together the factors that led to this catastrophic loss of life.
