The latest deaths, both recorded within the Dhaka South City Corporation area, bring the nationwide mortality count from the virus to 178 since the beginning of the year. Cumulative hospitalisations nationwide have now surpassed a critical milestone, climbing to 60,379 cases.

A regional breakdown of the latest 24-hour admissions reveals widespread transmission across multiple divisions. Dhaka Division reported the highest number of new cases at 414, followed by Khulna with 258, Chittagong with 194, and Barisal with 177. Farther north and west, Rajshahi recorded 82 new admissions, Mymensingh registered 54, Rangpur logged 47, and Sylhet reported six cases. Simultaneously, 1,232 recovered patients were discharged from medical facilities nationwide over the same 24-hour period, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 56,070.

Dengue virus transmission is primarily driven by Aedes mosquitoes, which breed rapidly in clean, stagnant water accumulating in urban and densely populated settings. The risk intensifies significantly during the monsoon and post-monsoon months, when frequent rainfall leaves water pooling in flowerpots, rooftops, construction sites, and discarded containers.

Public health specialists stress that mitigating the outbreak requires a dual approach: rigorous clinical management alongside aggressive vector control at the community level. Local government authorities face rising calls to maintain regular larviciding and anti-mosquito fogging operations. Concurrently, citizens are advised to inspect their surroundings daily, clear standing water, and seek immediate medical evaluation at the onset of fever or associated symptoms.
