During a campaign event in Chattogram-8, one person was killed and four others, including BNP candidate Ershad Ullah, were injured in a shooting on Wednesday evening at around 6pm near Chalitatali East Mosque under Bayezid Bostami Police Station. The deceased, Mohammad Sarwar Hossain Babla, was a listed top criminal with several cases against him. Though he recently claimed to be a BNP activist, the party stated that he was not affiliated. Hundreds of people were present at the event.
Traffic congestion and delays are common on Dhaka roads due to various programmes. Several important events are scheduled in the capital on Thursday, 6 November.
At 10:30am, BNP will hold a book unveiling and discussion at Hotel Sheraton Banani for ‘Tarique Rahman Politics and Policy’. Chief guest will be Dr. Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, and panelist Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury will also speak.
At 3pm, a rally will be held in support of BNP candidate Aminul Haque in Dhaka-16, starting from Pallabi RTC Bus Depot and passing through key areas to end at Rupnagar Tin Shed.
At 4pm, a leaflet distribution and public outreach will take place in Dhaka-10 to encourage voting for the BNP’s boat symbol. The programme will start at Bata Signal on Elephant Road and finish in front of City College, led by BNP international affairs secretary Barrister Nasiruddin Ahmed Osim.
At 6pm, a discussion by AB will be held at the Engineering Institute seminar hall, with BNP senior joint secretary Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi as chief guest.
The eight-party alliance will submit a memorandum at 11am demanding the legal basis of the July Charter, maintaining the amended RPO, and conducting a national election under the PR system. A gathering will precede the submission at Paltan Mor.
Dhaka University Dawah Circle will inaugurate the Winter Book Fair 2025 at TSC Payra Chottor from 6–9 November. Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan will officially open the fair at 10:30am.
A press conference on Dr Zakir Naik’s potential visit will be held by Spark Event Management at Hotel Sheraton at 3pm.
