On the historic 7 November Revolution and Solidarity Day, intense clashes erupted between two factions of the BNP in Boalmari, Faridpur. Between 40 and 50 people, including three police officers, were injured when the conflict turned the WAPDA Mor area into a battleground. The BNP office in Harun Shopping Complex was attacked, vandalised, and set on fire, resulting in the destruction of 12 motorcycles and damage to surrounding shops.
According to party sources, the local BNP has been divided for years under the leadership of Khondkar Nasirul Islam, vice-chair of the Central Krishok Dal, and former Upazila BNP joint secretary Shamsuddin Mia (VP Jhunu). Both leaders are aspirants for the Faridpur-1 parliamentary nomination. In the afternoon, supporters of both factions marched to WAPDA Mor, triggering stone-pelting. Police and administrative officials initially failed to control the situation, but the army intervened in the evening to restore order.
In Galachipa, Patuakhali, a clash also occurred between BNP and Ganadhikar Parishad members at Kapalbera market in Char Kajol Union. At least 16 people were injured. The conflict arose from a longstanding dispute between the Rarhi and Khalifa families in Kapalbera village. The injured were admitted to the Upazila Health Complex, and police managed to calm the situation.
These incidents have raised concern among local residents. Authorities are present on the ground to maintain control, and the events have sparked discussions among local and central leadership.
