10,000 law enforcement personnel deployed for security

The funeral of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will be conducted under the highest level of security, with more than 10,000 law enforcement personnel deployed at the venue. This was confirmed by Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, following a meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.

Shafiqul Alam emphasised that Khaleda Zia’s burial and funeral ceremonies will be held with full state honours. All advisers, including the Chief Adviser, are expected to attend the funeral, underscoring the event’s national significance.

Earlier on Tuesday, the advisers convened a meeting to finalise arrangements for Khaleda Zia’s funeral, as well as to review security measures and law and order arrangements during the period of mourning. The session focused on ensuring a dignified farewell while maintaining public safety amid large gatherings.

The meeting was presided over by Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Senior Adviser on Home Affairs. Other advisers in attendance included:

The deployment of over 10,000 personnel highlights the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order while honouring a former Prime Minister with full state protocol. Citizens are expected to witness large-scale public participation during the funeral processions and ceremonies.
