Two Teenagers Arrested Over Alleged Sexual Assault of 14-Year-Old Girl in Bogura
Bogura, Bangladesh – Police in Adamdighi Upazila have arrested two young men allegedly involved in the sexual assault of a 14-year-old schoolgirl. The incident, which has sparked outrage in the local community, occurred earlier this month, and authorities have taken swift action following a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s mother.
According to police reports, the victim, a fourth-grade student at Borakhira Government Primary School, was born into a Hindu family in the area. On the morning of 9 January, around 11:30 a.m., she left her home for private tutoring. It was during this time that Sajal Das, also known as Sanjay (17), allegedly lured her to a house, claiming it was empty. Once there, Shipon Kumar Sarkar (20) was reportedly waiting in a premeditated setup.
The two accused are said to have taken the girl into a room, restrained her, and assaulted her in succession. Following the assault, the perpetrators allegedly threatened the victim, warning her not to disclose the incident to anyone, and threatened to post photographs they had taken on social media if she spoke out.
The victim’s mother filed a case with Adamdighi Police Station on 18 January. Police acted promptly and arrested both suspects later that evening. The girl has been sent to court for medical examination and to record her statement, alongside the accused. Adamdighi Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Ataur Rahman, stated:
“The victim and the accused have been sent to court for medical examination and recording of statements. The legal process is being carried out swiftly.”
