In a shocking and deeply troubling incident late on Thursday night in Bauphal, Patuakhali, a schoolteacher and her teenage daughter were violently assaulted by intruders after a failed robbery attempt. The attack, which has sent ripples of fear through the local community, took place at the residence of the Hawladar family in Ward No. 1 of Keshabpur Union.
According to the injured teacher, Hosne Ara Begum, the ordeal began around 2:00 a.m. while she was asleep. “I woke up to strange noises inside the house,” she recounted. “Before I could react, two unidentified individuals had entered. When I screamed, they attacked both me and my daughter with blows and sharp weapons.”
Her daughter, Tabia Begum, aged 14, sustained serious injuries during the assault. Neighbours, alarmed by the commotion, rushed to the scene and forced the assailants to flee before police could arrive.

“Police visited the scene promptly upon receiving news of the incident. No formal written complaint has yet been filed. Once lodged, appropriate legal action will be taken. Our team is working diligently to identify the perpetrators.”
Locals have expressed serious concern over the attack, emphasising that it represents a growing threat to community safety. “If the culprits are not caught swiftly, ordinary residents will continue to live in fear,” said a nearby resident.
