A shocking patricide has shaken the Tarail upazila of Kishoreganj, as a 25-year-old man allegedly murdered his father over a financial dispute. Police have apprehended the suspect, identified as Jewel Mia, following the early-morning incident in Dori Jahangirpur (Madhyapara) village under the Tarail-Sachail Sadar Union. The victim, 45-year-old Ramjan Mia, was the son of the late Jabbar Mia.
According to police sources, the tragic incident occurred at approximately 5:00 am on Sunday, when both father and son were asleep in the same room. Witnesses reported that Jewel Mia suddenly attacked his father with a machete, inflicting severe injuries.
Neighbours, alerted by the victim’s cries for help, rushed to the scene. They broke down the door and carried Ramjan Mia to Tarail Upazila Health Complex, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Local residents quickly detained Jewel Mia and handed him over to law enforcement. Police recovered the weapon used in the crime, a large machete, along with 23,000 taka in cash.
