Eid Release Celebrates Srimangal

Renowned Bangladeshi singer Asif Akbar is set to unveil a distinctive new Eid release titled “Ruposhi Srimangal”, a musical film that blends melody with visual storytelling. The project features a duet with vocalist Rubaiyat Jahan and is designed to highlight the cultural heritage, historical depth, and natural splendour of Srimangal, widely celebrated as the tea capital of Bangladesh.

The upcoming song is structured as a cinematic musical production rather than a conventional audio release. It seeks to present Srimangal’s lush tea gardens, rolling hills, indigenous lifestyle, and rich traditions through carefully crafted visuals and lyrical narration. Producers have emphasised that the work is intended not only as entertainment but also as a cultural tribute to one of the country’s most picturesque regions.

The song has been written by lyricist Kays Aziz, while the musical film has been directed by Saikat Reza. The composition and arrangement have been handled by internationally recognised music director Raja Kashif, whose work across South Asian film and music industries has earned him notable acclaim in the United Kingdom and beyond.

According to Asif Akbar, the project represents a refreshing departure from his usual musical style. He described it as an artistic attempt to capture the essence of Srimangal’s natural beauty and cultural identity through sound and imagery. He further noted that such creative initiatives could contribute significantly to promoting domestic tourism by introducing local and international audiences to Bangladesh’s scenic destinations.

Rubaiyat Jahan also expressed her satisfaction with the collaboration, stating that the entire team had worked with dedication to produce a high-quality musical experience. She expressed hope that audiences would appreciate the effort and emotional depth embedded in the production.

The project’s production head, Dhruvo Guha, revealed that the initial concept was developed during his stay in London. From there, the idea evolved into a full-scale production aimed at showcasing Bangladesh’s regional beauty through a modern creative lens. He emphasised that culturally rooted audiovisual projects like this can play an important role in expanding the country’s tourism and cultural footprint globally.

The musical film is scheduled for release tomorrow at midday via an online video platform, where audiences will be able to experience its full visual narrative upon launch.
