However, a video of the event circulated on social media, prompting the removal of the flag and portraits shortly thereafter.
According to local sources, the flag-hoisting ceremony today was organised under the leadership of Kazi Abdul Alim, Vice President of the Narail District Volunteer League. A small group of party activists reopened the Noagram Union office in Manikganj Bazaar, a venue that had remained inactive for some time. Following the flag-raising, participants shouted slogans such as “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu” and “Sheikh Hasina Bhoy Nai, Rajpath Chhadi Nai” before dispersing peacefully.
A video of the ceremony, along with photographs of the event, was shared by Kazi Abdul Alim on his Facebook account. In his post, he wrote:
“After a gap of 18 months, we have inaugurated the regional office of the Bangladesh Awami League 4 No. Noagram Union at Manikganj Bazaar, Lohagara Upazila, Narail District, by hoisting the national flag in observance of the Great Ekushey February.”
The incident has drawn attention from local authorities. Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Md. Abdur Rahman, told reporters, “We are aware of the event. Police have been dispatched to the site, and an inquiry is currently underway.”
