A woman, believed to be around 50 years of age, tragically lost her life in a serious road accident in the Shahjadpur area of Gulshan, Dhaka, at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Monday. Authorities have yet to identify the victim, and investigations are ongoing.
Eyewitnesses reported that the woman was attempting to cross the main Shahjadpur road in the early hours when she was struck by an unidentified vehicle. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene before emergency services arrived. Local police quickly recovered the body and transported it to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Sub-Inspector Anindya Talukdar of Gulshan Police Station confirmed the incident to reporters, stating: “Our team arrived promptly after receiving information about the accident. At present, the type of vehicle involved has not been determined, and we are urging anyone with information to come forward.”
The deceased was dressed in a red printed saree at the time of the accident. The CID’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit is attempting to identify her through fingerprint analysis, but as of now, no positive identification has been made.
