Chittagong’s Police Superintendent (SP), Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan, suffered a serious leg fracture on Monday morning (30 March) after slipping in the washroom of his official residence. The incident occurred at his residence in the CRB area of Chittagong city. Following the accident, he was airlifted to Dhaka for specialised treatment at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).
According to Additional Police Superintendent (Crime & Ops) Sirajul Islam, who confirmed the incident to our representative, SP Khan slipped in the washroom, causing a severe fracture to his left leg. “He was initially rescued by the household staff and rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for immediate treatment,” he said.
After preliminary care, doctors at CMCH advised that SP Khan needed advanced orthopaedic intervention, prompting a referral to Dhaka. Subsequently, he was transported via helicopter from Shah Amanat International Airport to the capital, where he was admitted to NITOR for further management. Medical sources indicate that the fracture is complex and may require surgical intervention.
The police department has ensured full medical support and supervision throughout the transfer and treatment process. Officials emphasised that SP Khan’s condition is currently stable, though he remains under close observation by a team of orthopaedic specialists.
