A fresh addition to Bangladesh’s cultural landscape, ‘Anima’s Gaanghor’, is set to showcase the lives and insights of the nation’s distinguished artistic figures. The programme is presented by celebrated Rabindra Sangeet singer and Chair of the Music Department at Jagannath University, Dr. Anima Roy, whose lifelong dedication to music informs the series’ unique approach.
Produced under the banner of Kolahal Communications, the show seeks to go beyond conventional interviews. Each episode is structured as a baithaki adda—an informal, conversational setting where distinguished personalities from music, performing arts, and culture share their experiences, inspirations, and philosophies.
Dr. Anima Roy elaborates on the vision behind the series:
“Music has been my guiding path throughout life. I wanted to create a space where artists can talk freely about their journey, their craft, and their worldview. ‘Anima’s Gaanghor’ is meant to preserve these conversations as a living archive of our cultural heritage.”
The series is directed and produced by Tanvir Tarek, with episodes ranging between 40 minutes and one hour. The programme blends informal dialogue with reflective discussion, allowing audiences to connect intimately with the personal and professional lives of the guests.
Several prominent artists have already participated in the recorded episodes. These include the renowned vocalists Fatema Tuz Johra and Fatema-Tuz-Johra Oishi, Rabindra Sangeet specialist Fahim Hossain Chowdhury, and singer-composer Tanvir Alam Sajib.
‘Anima’s Gaanghor’ will be broadcast every Friday at 10:00 PM across five platforms, including the Kolahal official page, Tanvir Tarek’s official YouTube channel, the Swadhin Music app, and two additional streaming platforms. The premiere episode, airing on 3 April, will feature Tanvir Alam Sajib discussing his musical journey, creative philosophy, and reflections on contemporary cultural developments.
