Sergio Gor Praises Donald Trump Following Billion-Dollar Boeing Deal

United States Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, has commended President Donald Trump as the most effective job creator in American history, praising his administration’s ability to secure massive foreign investments and expand export markets. Highlighting the tangible returns of Washington’s commercial diplomacy, Gor cited a major multi-billion-dollar aerospace transaction with Bangladesh as a defining example of this strategy.

In a public statement posted on X on Sunday, 30 August, the 39-year-old diplomat reflected on recent bilateral progress following his official three-day diplomatic visit to Dhaka on 30 July. Gor emphasized that the administration’s economic blueprint continues to generate high-value industrial employment back home while strengthening commercial ties with key Asian partners.

“Donald Trump is the greatest job-creating president in American history,” Gor stated. “He works tirelessly to generate high-paying jobs, attract trillions of dollars in investments, and revitalise our economy.”

Linking domestic industrial growth with foreign policy achievements in South Asia, Gor drew specific attention to expanding bilateral trade commitments between Washington and Dhaka. He noted that President Trump and Bangladesh’s Prime Minister reached an extraordinary milestone this week, under which Bangladesh committed to spending billions of dollars—a sum significantly surpassing its initial procurement estimates—to acquire American manufactured goods. Gor added that through these agreements, the president is fulfilling his pledge to revitalise both the American economy and international partnerships.

The statements shed fresh light on a landmark commercial agreement finalised in April, when national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines entered into a formal contract to purchase 14 passenger jets from aerospace giant Boeing. Valued at $3.7 billion—amounting to over 45,000 crore in Bangladeshi taka—the fleet acquisition stands as one of the largest foreign commercial deals in Bangladesh’s aviation history, delivering a substantial financial boost to the US manufacturing sector.

During his diplomatic mission to Dhaka a month ago, Gor held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to explore avenues for expanding bilateral trade, enhancing regional cooperation, and fostering mutual investment. Although initial official releases from the Prime Minister’s Office emphasized broad economic collaboration without elaborating on individual commercial transactions, Gor’s latest remarks confirm that large-scale aerospace deals remain integral to US diplomatic engagement in the region.

Gor possesses extensive background across American political and commercial sectors, serving simultaneously as US Ambassador to India—a post he has occupied since August last year—and Special Envoy for South and Central Asia. An alumnus of George Washington University, Gor previously directed the White House Presidential Personnel Office and managed senior roles across both houses of the US Congress during key legislative campaigns. Prior to his government appointment, he co-founded Winning Team Publishing alongside Donald Trump, solidifying his position as a prominent figure within the administration’s diplomatic and strategic network.
