A violent shooting incident linked to a reported dispute over local dominance left two brothers injured in Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka, on Tuesday evening. The attackers, travelling on motorcycles, carried out coordinated assaults at two separate locations before fleeing the scene, according to police and local witnesses.
The injured brothers have been identified as Ismail Hossain (35) and Shipon Hossain (32). Both sustained gunshot wounds and were initially taken to a nearby private hospital before being transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital due to the seriousness of their condition.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the attack occurred around 9:30 pm in the area adjacent to a garment factory referred to locally as a “virtual” production facility. Ismail was sitting in a narrow alley when three motorcycles carrying armed assailants arrived. Without warning, the attackers opened fire, striking him in the back and right leg.
Shortly afterwards, the same group reportedly moved to a second location behind the local electricity office in the Pallibidyut area, where they targeted Shipon. He suffered severe injuries to his right thigh, which medical staff described as extensively damaged by gunfire.
Witnesses described the operation as swift and apparently pre-planned, with the attackers spending only a few minutes at each location before escaping.
Preliminary information gathered from local sources indicates that the incident may be connected to long-standing tensions over control of cable television and internet distribution businesses in the area. Rival groups have reportedly been in conflict for some time, with disputes occasionally escalating into intimidation and violence.
A local business associate, Sabuj Sarkar, who works in the same sector, stated that Shipon had been engaged in work with him. He added that the motive behind the attack remains unclear and urged a thorough police investigation to uncover those responsible.
Medical officials confirmed that both brothers had visible gunshot injuries upon arrival. Due to the deterioration of their condition, they were transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
| Victim Name | Age | Injury Location | Initial Treatment Location | Current Status |

Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Tarekul Islam of Ashulia Police Station stated that the attack is believed to have stemmed from rivalry over the control of the cable and internet business network. He confirmed that an investigation is underway.
He further noted that no formal complaint had yet been filed at the police station, as the victims’ family members are currently occupied with medical arrangements in Dhaka. However, police have been maintaining contact with the family and are preparing to initiate legal proceedings once a formal case is lodged.
Authorities have assured that necessary legal action will follow once the investigation identifies those responsible. The incident has heightened concern among local residents over escalating gang-related disputes in the area.
