A body of an unidentified middle-aged man has been recovered from the Little Feni River in Feni. Police recovered the remains on Thursday (21 May) after locals spotted the body floating near the riverbank in the early hours and informed the authorities.
According to police and local sources, residents of the Talatoli Jelepara area adjacent to Char Majlishpur Union in Sonagazi Upazila noticed the body floating in the Little Feni River at dawn. The deceased was wearing trousers and a T-shirt. Following the report, police from the relevant stations arrived at the scene and recovered the body.
Personnel from both Daganbhuiyan and Sonagazi police stations responded to the incident. As the location lies near the jurisdictional boundary between the two police stations, initial confusion arose regarding territorial responsibility. It was later confirmed that the body fell within Ward No. 9 of Char Majlishpur Union under Sonagazi Police Station.
Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Sonagazi–Daganbhuiyan Circle) Syed Mumin Raihan visited the scene after being informed. Under his supervision, police completed the inquest report and sent the body to the Feni Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
Police confirmed that the identity of the deceased has not yet been established. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
