BRAC Bank has successfully concluded a multi-district promotional roadshow aimed at accelerating the adoption of “Shafollo”, Bangladesh’s first fully digital small and medium enterprise (SME) e-loan product. The initiative represents a notable advance in the automated financial inclusion of small-scale commercial enterprises within the country’s banking infrastructure.
The promotional campaign, structured under the title “Shafollo Uddokta Shomabesh”, was deployed across six strategically selected districts: Gazipur, Dinajpur, Sherpur, Jamalpur, Syedpur, and Rajshahi. According to an institutional press release, the roadshow served as a direct engagement platform, bringing together more than 600 established small and medium business owners to demonstrate the bank’s transition toward fast, transparent, and entirely paperless credit underwriting.
Strategic Framework and Multilateral Support
The execution of the “Shafollo Uddokta Shomabesh” series was supported via an institutional partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This collaboration aimed to dismantle traditional bureaucratic barriers to credit by educating regional merchant networks on the utilization of automated loan systems.
The regional distribution of the conferences alongside the operational metrics of the digital credit facility are outlined in the table below:
| Geographic Location | Target Delegate Segment | Core Core Capabilities | Institutional Partner |
| Gazipur | Industrial Hub Entrepreneurs | On-the-spot Application Tracking | Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation |
| Dinajpur | Agrarian Supply-Chain Owners | Automated Risk Assessment | Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation |
| Sherpur | Cottage and Micro-Enterprise Owners | Zero Physical Document Verification | Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation |
| Jamalpur | Local Handloom and Craft Merchants | Direct Financial Disbursement | Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation |
| Syedpur | Transit and Commercial Traders | Real-time Eligibility Evaluation | Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation |
| Rajshahi | Silk and Agricultural Processors | Instant Digital Credit Allocation | Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation |
Live Application Disbursal and Consumer Feedback
A primary feature of the district seminars was the live execution of the automated credit facility before the assembled delegates. In a first-of-its-kind public demonstration within the Bangladeshi financial sector, active SME loan applications submitted by attending merchants were processed, audited, and disbursed in real time on the spot. This live deployment allowed the institution to validate its claims regarding the operational speed, technical transparency, and administrative efficiency of the e-loan algorithm.
During the interactive phases of the roadshow, BRAC Bank executives directly gathered empirical qualitative data and performance feedback from the participating business owners. The institution confirmed that these firsthand user metrics will be utilized to refine technical interface features, enhance customer convenience, and optimize the automated lending framework for broader commercial distribution across rural and semi-urban retail markets.
