Mustafiz Cleared for Full Hundred Campaign

Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has been granted permission by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to participate in the entire upcoming season of The Hundred, paving the way for his long-awaited debut in England’s innovative 100-ball competition.

The left-arm seamer, widely recognised for his deceptive slower deliveries and pinpoint cutters, has previously enjoyed success in English domestic cricket. He first featured in England in 2016, representing Sussex in the T20 Blast, where his performances reinforced his reputation as one of the world’s most effective white-ball bowlers. Nearly a decade later, he is set to return to English conditions for another significant chapter in his career.

A BCB official confirmed to Cricbuzz that the board has issued Mustafizur with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) covering the period from 20 July to 20 August. The approval means there are no administrative barriers preventing him from taking part in the sixth edition of The Hundred, which begins on 21 July.

Mustafizur was selected by Birmingham Phoenix during this year’s player draft after being signed at a reserve price of £100,000. His inclusion is a landmark moment for Bangladesh cricket, as he is expected to become the first Bangladeshi cricketer to feature in The Hundred since the tournament was launched in 2021.

Before travelling to England, Mustafizur remains on international duty with Bangladesh. He is currently part of the national squad touring Zimbabwe and is expected to fly directly to England after the conclusion of the Twenty20 International series in Bulawayo on 19 July. The schedule allows him to join Birmingham Phoenix in time for the start of the competition.

The Hundred has become one of the most prominent franchise tournaments in world cricket, attracting leading international players alongside England’s top domestic talent. For Mustafizur, the tournament offers another opportunity to showcase his skills in one of the sport’s most competitive environments while strengthening Bangladesh’s presence on the global franchise circuit.

The BCB has also confirmed overseas opportunities for two other Bangladesh cricketers. Batter Parvez Hossain Emon has been granted an NOC to participate in the Global Super League following Bangladesh’s T20I series against Zimbabwe. He will represent Lahore Qalandars in the competition, gaining valuable experience in another international franchise event.

Meanwhile, fast bowler Hasan Mahmud is set to return to English county cricket with Kent Spitfires, where he will play the final three group-stage matches of the T20 Blast. Hasan has already impressed during his stint with Kent in the County Championship, claiming 12 wickets in just two matches. His strong performances have earned widespread attention and strengthened his prospects of making a significant impact in the shorter format as well.

With Mustafizur preparing for his maiden Hundred campaign, Parvez pursuing franchise opportunities abroad, and Hasan continuing to impress in county cricket, Bangladesh’s cricketers are enjoying increasing exposure across leading overseas competitions. Such experiences are expected to enhance both their individual development and the depth of Bangladesh’s talent pool ahead of future international assignments.
