Anupam Roy’s Dhaka Concert Rescheduled

After weeks of uncertainty, acclaimed Indian singer-songwriter and composer Anupam Roy is finally set to perform in Dhaka. The much-anticipated ‘One True Sound’ concert, which was postponed at the last minute earlier this year, has now been rescheduled for 1 August at the United Convention Centre in the capital.

The announcement brings relief to thousands of fans who had been eagerly awaiting the performance. The concert had originally been scheduled for 26 June at the same venue, with organisers having completed virtually all logistical and technical preparations. However, unforeseen circumstances forced the event to be postponed just before it was due to take place. At the time, organisers assured ticket holders that a new date would be announced once conditions allowed, and that promise has now been fulfilled.

Organising company Triple Time Communications said preparations for the rescheduled event are now in their final stages. Ticket sales are expected to begin within the next few days, with organisers also planning to reduce ticket prices slightly compared with the previous arrangement in an effort to make the concert more accessible to a wider audience.

Arifa Shabnam, a representative of the organising company, said all major preparations had been completed and that the team was ready to launch ticket sales shortly. She added that organisers were trying to keep ticket prices lower than before after considering feedback from music lovers.

She also clarified the situation regarding tickets purchased for the cancelled June concert. According to her, nearly all customers who bought tickets directly from the organisers have already received refunds, with only around 40 cases still pending. She confirmed that tickets issued for the original event will not be valid for the rescheduled concert, meaning anyone wishing to attend on 1 August will need to purchase a new ticket.

According to the organisers, the concert will again be held at the United Convention Centre, which has a seating capacity of approximately 4,000 people. Alongside Anupam Roy, a popular Bangladeshi solo artist or band will also perform during the programme. The identity of the local supporting act, however, has yet to be announced.

Anupam Roy enjoys a devoted following on both sides of the border and is widely recognised for his distinctive songwriting, emotive lyrics and memorable film soundtracks. His performances regularly attract large audiences, and his songs have become favourites among Bengali music enthusiasts of different generations.

Organisers said all necessary approvals for the event have now been secured and only the final logistical arrangements remain. Stage construction, sound engineering, lighting design and audience management plans are currently being finalised. With the uncertainty surrounding the original event now resolved, expectations are high that the concert will deliver a memorable evening for Dhaka’s music lovers and mark a successful return for one of contemporary Bengali music’s most celebrated performers.
