A photograph of Sajeeb Wazed Joy carrying a camera has attracted considerable attention on social media, with users focusing on his noticeably different appearance from his usual public engagements.
In the photograph, Joy is seen with a camera slung over his shoulder, a mobile phone in his hand and a cap on his head. Dressed casually, he appears far removed from the formal image usually associated with his political and public activities. At first glance, some social media users even compared his appearance with that of Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
A closer look, however, reveals that the person in the photograph is Joy, the grandson of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and son of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. His informal appearance has prompted a wave of reactions online, particularly because photographs of him in such a setting are less familiar to the public.
The image began circulating widely on social media from the morning. A number of users shared it on their Facebook accounts and added their own comments about Joy’s appearance. Some used the phrase ‘From Mujib to Sajeeb’, while others described him as a potential future statesman of Bangladesh.
Such comments reflect individual reactions from social media users and do not necessarily represent any official political position. Much of the attention surrounding the photograph has centred on Joy’s casual appearance rather than on any political statement or formal event.
Joy is currently understood to be visiting Italy. During the trip, he has been seen meeting members of the Bangladeshi diaspora as well as leaders and activists of Italy Awami League and its affiliated organisations.
His presence in Italy has therefore included both political and community-related engagements. Yet it is the photograph showing him carrying a camera that has generated the strongest online interest. The image presents a markedly informal side of a figure more commonly seen in political, technological or public settings.
Joy has long been a recognised figure in Bangladesh’s political and public life. He has also been associated with the country’s information technology sector and has played a prominent role in discussions surrounding digital development and technology.
Against that background, the photograph offers a different visual impression. Rather than appearing at a podium or in a formal meeting, Joy is pictured in casual clothing with photographic equipment, creating an image that social media users have found unusual and visually striking.
The rapid spread of the photograph also highlights the way personal and informal images of prominent public figures can attract attention online. In this case, the combination of the camera, cap and casual clothing has prompted comparisons with film stars and generated a range of comments from users.
For now, however, the photograph itself remains the central focus of the discussion. Away from his familiar political persona, Joy’s camera-carrying appearance has given social media users a different image of the public figure and turned an apparently ordinary moment during his Italy visit into a widely discussed photograph.
