Nora Fatehi Faces ₹30 Crore Defamation Claim Over Aircraft Remark

Bollywood actress and dancer Nora Fatehi is facing a ₹30 crore defamation claim from Indian aviation company Dunes Aviation after comments she allegedly made about one of the company’s chartered aircraft. The dispute centres on a video she recorded during a flight and later shared on Instagram, in which she reportedly described the aircraft as a ‘toy’ and a ‘Lego aeroplane’.

According to reports in the Indian media, Fatehi travelled from Mumbai to Jaipur in December last year aboard a Cessna Citation CJ2 operated by Dunes Aviation. During the journey, she filmed a video inside the aircraft and subsequently posted it on her Instagram account.

In the video, Fatehi is reported to have referred to the aircraft as a ‘toy’ and compared it to a Lego aeroplane, a reference to the plastic construction toys commonly used to build miniature models. The remarks have since become the basis of a legal dispute between the entertainer and the aviation company.

Dunes Aviation has objected strongly to the comments, arguing that they were made without technical knowledge or a factual basis. The company has described the remarks as reckless and irresponsible, particularly because they were made publicly by a celebrity with a substantial social media following.

The aviation company claims that the video and Fatehi’s comments harmed its reputation and had a measurable impact on its business. According to its allegations, bookings declined by between 15 and 20 per cent following the publication of the content, while the rate of flight cancellations also increased.

Dunes Aviation is seeking ₹30 crore in compensation from the actress over the alleged damage. It has also called for the removal of the video and related material from social media platforms. In addition, the company is seeking a public explanation from Fatehi regarding the remarks.

The case has reportedly been filed before a court in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The proceedings will determine how the company’s allegations and its claimed financial losses are assessed.

The dispute also highlights the potential consequences of comments made by high-profile personalities on social media. A casual remark posted online can reach a large audience within a short period, particularly when it comes from a celebrity with millions of followers. For businesses, such exposure can become a matter of concern if they believe public comments have affected their reputation or commercial interests.

At this stage, the allegations made by Dunes Aviation form the basis of the legal claim, while the court proceedings will determine the merits of the case and the company’s demand for compensation. No finding of liability against Fatehi has been established merely by the filing of the lawsuit.
