Bangladesh Central Bank Publishes Daily Foreign Exchange Rates

Bangladesh Bank released the official foreign exchange reference rates on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, establishing stable benchmarks across major international and regional currencies. These rates directly influence commercial bank transactions, international trade settlements, and cross-border family remittances.

The US Dollar, serving as the core reference currency for Bangladesh’s international settlement framework, stands at a buying rate of Tk 123.16 and a selling rate of Tk 123.20. The minimal four-poisha spread between the buying and selling figures reflects steady demand within the interbank forex market.

European and Western currencies continue to occupy the highest nominal valuation tiers on the domestic exchange board. The British Pound Sterling leads all listed currencies, with commercial banks purchasing at Tk 166.49 and selling at Tk 166.57. Meanwhile, the Euro maintains its position with a buying rate of Tk 142.84 against a selling valuation of Tk 142.93.

Across key Asia-Pacific currencies, valuations demonstrate predictable stability tied to regional trade flows:

  • Singapore Dollar (SGD): Buying at Tk 97.19 | Selling at Tk 97.22

  • Australian Dollar (AUD): Buying at Tk 88.28 | Selling at Tk 88.35

  • Chinese Yuan (CNY): Buying at Tk 18.35 | Selling at Tk 18.36

  • Indian Rupee (INR): Buying at Tk 1.29 | Selling at Tk 1.29

  • Japanese Yen (JPY): Buying at Tk 0.80 | Selling at Tk 0.80

For both the Indian Rupee and the Japanese Yen, the buying and selling rates remain identical, recorded at Tk 1.29 and Tk 0.80 respectively. While individual unit values vary significantly—from the high-value British Pound to the lower nominal figures of the Yen—financial analysts emphasise that a currency’s single-unit exchange rate is a structural reflection of its monetary denomination rather than a direct measure of economic health.

These daily rates carry substantial practical significance for diverse sectors of the economy. Import-export merchants rely on predictable exchange bands to calculate raw material procurement costs, whilst families relying on foreign remittances monitor rates to gauge household receipts. Similarly, individuals funding overseas education or medical care abroad face direct financial impacts from shifting currency values.

Actual retail execution rates across commercial banks and financial institutions may fluctuate slightly from central reference points based on market liquidity, transaction size, and specific institutional service charges throughout the trading day.
