The operation unfolded on Friday afternoon, specifically around ten to five in the afternoon, along a paved road situated directly outside the residence of the late Lehaz Uddin in the Boror Surundi area of Sadar Upazila. Acting on a tip-off, a specialised team from the detective branch staked out the location, closely monitoring the movements of the suspects before moving in to make the arrests.

The detained individuals have been identified as twenty-four-year-old Md Raju Miah, son of Badur Uddin from Bengrui village under Nabogram Union, and thirty-year-old Shishir Miah, son of Nur Islam alias Nobu Miah from the Malancha area within Ward Number 4 of the municipality. Upon conducting preliminary searches, officers recovered fifty Yaba tablets from Raju Miah, while the remaining thirty tablets were seized from Shishir Miah.

This successful raid was carried out under the direct supervision of Manikged Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sarwar Alam, with guidance from Inspector Manabendra Balo, the officer-in-charge of the District Detective Branch. The operational team on the ground was led by Sub-Inspector Abhijit Chowdhury, alongside fellow detectives who ensured the operation was executed smoothly.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects have been involved in local drug distribution networks across Sadar Upazila and neighbouring localities for some time. Law enforcement agencies have intensified their surveillance and intelligence-gathering efforts to dismantle regional drug supply chains and protect local communities from the adverse impacts of substance abuse.

A formal case is currently being processed against the two arrested men at the Manikged Sadar Police Station under the existing narcotics control framework. Authorities confirmed that the suspects will be produced before the local court once the preliminary legal formalities are concluded, while further inquiries continue to trace potential associates involved in the illicit trade.
