A man identified as Md Mansur died while undergoing treatment after being attacked in Sitakunda, Chattogram. He died on Tuesday, 29 September, several days after sustaining serious injuries in an assault in the Golabaria area of Muradpur Union.
Mansur, son of the late Salamat Ullah, also known as Junu, was a resident of Khalil Bhuiya Bari in the area. He was associated with the Awami League, according to the information provided by local authorities.
The incident took place in Ward 2 of Muradpur Union. According to police, a clash between two groups occurred several days before Mansur’s death. During the confrontation, he was attacked with a sharp weapon and suffered injuries. He was subsequently taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Despite receiving medical care, his condition did not improve sufficiently and he died at the hospital on Tuesday.
Md Mohinul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda Model Police Station, confirmed the death. He said the initial incident involved a fight between two sides and that Mansur had been admitted to hospital after being injured. Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack and the subsequent death.
A case has been filed over the incident. Police have launched an operation to arrest the individuals named in the first information report, according to the officer-in-charge.
The circumstances leading to the confrontation, the sequence of events during the attack and the specific roles of those accused are expected to form part of the investigation. At this stage, police have not provided further details about the motive behind the clash or the identities of any additional people who may have been involved.
