Popular Life Insurance PLC has handed over insurance claim cheques worth Tk96.757 million to policyholders in its Chattogram region. The cheque distribution was held alongside a discussion meeting with the company’s development officers on Saturday at the auditorium of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in Chattogram.
The programme was chaired by BM Yusuf Ali, managing director and chief executive officer of Popular Life Insurance PLC, president of the Bangladesh Insurance Forum and an executive member of the Bangladesh Insurance Association. Mohammad Zahirul Islam Chowdhury, chairman of Popular Life Insurance PLC, attended the event as the chief guest.
In his speech, Chowdhury said the company was continuing to place the interests of its policyholders at the centre of its operations. He said timely settlement of insurance claims was essential to maintaining customers’ confidence and trust in the company.
He also said Popular Life Insurance would continue working to improve the quality of its customer services while contributing to the development of Bangladesh’s insurance sector.
BM Yusuf Ali, in his address, described the settlement of customer claims as one of the company’s principal responsibilities. He said the company had already paid a substantial amount in insurance claims and had built customer confidence through such payments.
He said efforts would continue to provide policyholders with prompt and hassle-free services. He also urged the company’s development officers to carry out their responsibilities with honesty, dedication and sincerity and to play a more active role in expanding the company’s business.
A number of senior officials and directors of the company attended the programme as special guests. They included entrepreneur director and former chairman Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury, director Mohammad Amir Hossain Chowdhury, additional managing director BM Shawkat Ali, senior deputy managing director for branch control Syed Motahar Hossain, deputy managing director of the Islami DPS Project Khalilur Rahman Dulal, senior executive director of the Al-Amin Insurance Project Selim Mia and senior executive director of the Islami Insurance Takaful Project Sazzad Mahmud Kishore.
The event was conducted by Shamsuzzaman Selim, senior general manager and project director of the Al-Amin Insurance Project, and Arun Chandra, project in-charge of the Individual Insurance Project.
Following the discussion, the company’s chairman Mohammad Zahirul Islam Chowdhury and managing director and chief executive officer BM Yusuf Ali formally handed over the insurance claim cheques to eligible policyholders.
The distribution involved claims relating to policies that had reached maturity. The total amount of Tk96.757 million represents a significant financial payment to policyholders in the Chattogram region and was presented as part of the company’s customer service activities.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the company’s senior management to communicate with development officers, who play a role in expanding insurance business and maintaining relationships with policyholders. The company leadership stressed the importance of professional conduct and customer service alongside business growth.
For policyholders, the settlement of a matured claim is a key part of the insurance relationship. The company’s leadership said maintaining timely payments and improving service would remain priorities as it continues its operations in the insurance market.
