Young Man Stabbed to Death Outside Home in Halishahar, Chittagong

A 35-year-old man, Md. Akbar, was fatally stabbed outside his home in Halishahar, Chittagong, on Friday night at around 11 PM. The incident took place in the Maizpara area, in front of his own residence. Akbar, the son of Abdur Rahman, worked at a local scrap shop.

According to local and eyewitness sources, Akbar was standing outside his home when he was attacked with a knife. He was subsequently rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The victim’s younger sister, Saima, stated that a neighbour, Rana, had gone to collect a motorcycle debt from one of her friends. During an argument between Rana and her friend, Akbar was present in front of his house, at which point he was stabbed.

SI Nure Alam Asheq of Chittagong Medical College Police Outpost confirmed that Akbar was brought to the hospital around 11:30 PM by family members, and the attending doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Halishahar Police Station, Mohammad Nurul Absar Kalbela, said that the stabbing was related to a financial dispute. The body has been sent to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. No case has yet been filed; the victim’s family plans to lodge a formal complaint after the burial.
