Producer Kamal Parvez, Brother of Sohel Rana and Rubel, Passes Away

Bir Muktijoddha and renowned film producer and actor Kamal Parvez passed away early on Saturday, 22 November, while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka. He was 72 years old. Kamal Parvez was the brother of prominent actors Sohel Rana and Rubel, and the third among five brothers in the family, which includes Masud Parvez (Sohel Rana), Jewel Parvez, Nehal Parvez, and Masum Parvez (Rubel).

The news was confirmed by Mashroor Parvez, son of Sohel Rana, who shared that his uncle had been ill for some time. On Friday morning, when his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to hospital and later transferred to the ICU. Despite receiving intensive care and being placed on life support, his health worsened, leading to his death. Mashroor requested prayers for the departed soul of Kamal Parvez.

The funeral prayer took place after Zuhr on Saturday at the Uttara Sector 5 Jame Mosque, and he was laid to rest at the Martyred Intellectuals’ Graveyard in Mirpur. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter, alongside extended family members and numerous well-wishers from the film fraternity.

Kamal Parvez was widely recognised for his contributions to the Bangladeshi film industry, producing several notable films including Bishwopremik, Birpurush, Ami Shahenshah, Khuner Porinam, and Chardike Andhakar. In the film Birpurush, he shared the screen with his brothers Sohel Rana and Rubel, creating a memorable collaboration that remains celebrated by audiences.

Throughout his career, Kamal Parvez was respected not only for his artistic talent but also for his commitment to the nation, reflected in his recognition as a Bir Muktijoddha for his contributions during the Liberation War. His passing marks a significant loss for both the film industry and the community of freedom fighters.
