Ancelotti Extends Brazil Contract to 2030

Brazil Football Federation (CBF) has confirmed the extension of head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s contract, ensuring he will remain in charge of the national team until the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The decision ends speculation over his future and secures long-term continuity for the Brazilian side.

The announcement was made by the CBF on Thursday (14 May). With this renewal, Ancelotti will continue leading Brazil through the 2026 World Cup cycle and into the subsequent tournament period. CBF president Samir Xaud described the extension as a historic moment for Brazilian football.

In an official statement, Xaud said: “Carlo Ancelotti’s contract renewal is another firm step in our commitment. With this agreement, we will be able to further strengthen the structure of the five-time world champions and make it more modern and competitive.”

Ancelotti initially took charge of Brazil in May 2025 after leaving Spanish giants Real Madrid. His original contract was set to run until the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, the CBF opted to extend the agreement before the tournament, securing his services through to 2030.

Ancelotti expressed satisfaction with the extension in a statement published via the CBF website. He said: “A year ago, when I arrived in Brazil, I realised the significance of football for them. CBF, I want more. I am very happy to announce that we will continue our journey together until the 2030 World Cup. I would like to thank CBF for trusting me. Thank you for the warm welcome and affection.”

His remarks reflect continuity in Brazil’s long-term planning as the national team prepares for upcoming international competitions. The renewed agreement provides stability ahead of the 2026 World Cup and beyond, with Brazil aiming to strengthen its competitive structure on the global stage.

Ancelotti is expected to announce Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup on 18 May. The team will then begin its preparations for a series of international fixtures scheduled for June.

Brazil, five-time World Cup winners, last lifted the trophy in 2002. Since then, the national team has remained in pursuit of a sixth title. The extension of Ancelotti’s contract signals the federation’s intention to maintain continuity in preparation for both the 2026 and 2030 World Cups, ensuring long-term managerial stability during this period.
