Bangladeshi Housewife Found Dead With Hands Bound in Tangail

The police have recovered the body of a 51-year-old housewife from the third floor of her residence in Tangail municipal town. The victim, identified as Najma Alam, was discovered under highly suspicious circumstances on Sunday afternoon. Her body was found inside her family home in the Shivnathpara neighbourhood, triggering shock and anxiety among local residents.

Najma was the wife of Shafiul Alam Shaheen, a well-known local veterinary physician. The tragic discovery came to light following a series of unanswered phone calls from her husband earlier in the day. According to police sources, Shaheen had left the house in the morning to attend to his professional duties. After arriving at his office, he attempted to contact his wife multiple times on her mobile phone. Growing increasingly anxious when the calls went unanswered, he contacted the tenants residing on the ground floor of the multi-storey residential building.

Gruesome Discovery by Ground Floor Tenant

At Shaheen’s request, a tenant went up to the third floor to check on Najma. Upon entering the apartment, the tenant encountered a gruesome scene. Najma was found lying on a sofa, completely unresponsive and covered in blood. Her hands had been bound tightly, and a thick rope was found wrapped securely around her neck, indicating a struggle and suggesting that she may have been strangled or restrained before her death.

The tenant immediately raised the alarm, and the local police were notified of the situation. A team of law enforcement officers from the Tangail Police Station arrived at the scene shortly after midday to secure the property and gather forensic evidence. Investigators combed the apartment for fingerprints and signs of forced entry, attempting to piece together the events leading up to the murder.

Police Launch Investigation as Body Sent for Autopsy

The body was recovered and transported to the Tangail General Hospital morgue for a comprehensive post-mortem examination. The Additional Superintendent of Police for the Tangail Sadar Circle, H M Mahbub Rezwan Siddique, confirmed the retrieval of the body and stated that official medical findings would clarify the exact cause of death. He assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway, with multiple police teams deployed to identify and apprehend those responsible for the crime.

Local community leaders have expressed deep concern over the brazen nature of the crime, which occurred during broad daylight in a residential urban sector. Neighbours described the family as peaceful and respected within the community. Detectives are currently questioning the ground-floor tenants and reviewing available security footage from adjacent streets to trace any suspicious individuals who entered the property during the morning hours.
