Bikash Agent Shot in Broad Daylight, Tk 30 Million Stolen

A daring armed robbery took place in Gazipur’s Sreepur region during the early hours of Friday evening, resulting in one individual sustaining gunshot injuries and two others suffering physical trauma. A gang of unidentified assailants intercepted a private vehicle carrying cash for a prominent mobile financial service distributor, fleeing with three plastic sacks containing an estimated 30 million Bangladeshi Taka. The dramatic heist unfolded at around 6:30 pm on the Sreepur-Gosinga regional road near the Karnapur area.
The casualties included an accounting officer identified as Himel, who sustained gunshot wounds during the attack, alongside area manager Farhad and driver Lal Miya, both of whom received injuries. Local emergency responders initially treated Himel at Sreepur Hospital before transferring him to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for advanced care and surgical evaluation.
According to Mostafizur Rahman, manager of the Sreepur branch of Bhaluka Channel Enterprise Limited, the distributor operates its mobile banking services out of the Maona Chowrasta area. The financial transaction was arranged to meet an urgent surge in demand for physical cash. With commercial banks closed for the weekend and local garment factories requiring immediate cash reserves to disburse worker wages, the firm faced a temporary shortage of physical paper currency.
To bridge this operational gap, cash was being transported in a private motor car from Hazrat Ali Munshi, a registered mobile banking distributor based in Narsingdi Sadar, in exchange for digital account balance transfers as per standard operating protocols.
As the vehicle reached the Karnapur stretch on the regional highway, ten to twelve motorcycles swarmed the motor car, effectively blocking its route. The bandits swiftly escalated their tactics, breaking through the car windows using Chinese axes and traditional lethal weapons. When the occupants attempted to resist, the attackers brandished handguns and fired directly at Himel.
The armed gang grabbed three plastic sacks packed with currency from the vehicle’s interior before speeding away from the scene. Although the car originally transported a total sum of 40 million Taka, preliminary estimates from the distributor indicate that approximately 30 million Taka was stolen in the raid.
Following the violent outbreak, law enforcement personnel deployed immediately to secure the crime scene. Mohammad Shahinur Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Sreepur Police Station, confirmed that a comprehensive investigation has commenced. Police teams are actively collecting forensic evidence from the site while gathering detailed statements from the surviving victims and eyewitnesses. Authorities have launched coordinated operations to identify the perpetrators, track down the getaway vehicles, and recover the stolen funds.
