Acclaimed filmmaker and former cultural affairs advisor Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has firmly dismissed rumours regarding his separation from actor Nusrat Imrose Tisha, describing the claims as entirely baseless and fabricated. Addressing the online misinformation campaign alongside a cyberattack on his personal social media presence, the director expressed strong indignation over the malicious targeting of his private life.
On Saturday morning, Farooki discovered that his Facebook account had been compromised and deactivated. He disclosed that a domestic cybercriminal group orchestrated the breach and subsequently celebrated the takeover across various online communities. Urging swift intervention, the director called upon law enforcement agencies to take immediate action against those responsible for the security breach.
Farooki remained uncompromisingly direct when asked about the persistent marital separation rumours circulating online. He noted that he has neither the time nor the inclination to address manufactured stories, adding that he has zero interest in responding to claims made by worthless individuals.
The filmmaker also addressed internet commentary suggesting he owns real estate assets in Australia and Switzerland, characterising those assertions as laughable. Such financial claims, he pointed out, are easily verifiable through standard legal channels. He urged the public and the media to disregard unsubstantiated gossip and focus instead on his creative endevours.
Farooki and Nusrat Imrose Tisha married on 16 July 2010, establishing one of the Bangladeshi entertainment industry’s most prominent creative partnerships. The couple welcomed their daughter, Ilham Nusrat Farooki, in 2022. Over the years, both figures have built distinguished careers, earning widespread recognition for their contributions to television, theatre, and cinema.
Unfazed by recent online distractions, Farooki remains actively engaged in several production ventures. He recently wrapped up shooting for two commercial projects, filming across diverse locations in Dhaka, Mymensingh, and South Korea, with a third commercial scheduled to commence production shortly.
In addition to his commercial assignments, Farooki is currently refining screenplays for two upcoming feature films. One of the projects, titled To Hell, With Love, explores a romance set against the backdrop of Generation Z youth culture. The second film tackles a political narrative. Farooki reiterated his commitment to his artistic projects, maintaining that professional achievements remain his sole priority.
