The fire started at around 10.30am on Saturday, 24 October, in the Shailan area of Kashimpur Police Station within Gazipur metropolitan area. The blaze occurred at the factory’s carton facility, where a large quantity of empty cartons was stored.
Ariful Islam, an official at Kashimpur Fire Service, said two units from the Kashimpur Mini Fire Service Station reached the scene after receiving information about the incident. They immediately began firefighting operations in an effort to bring the flames under control.
As the fire intensified, three additional units from the Sarabo Fire Service Station were deployed to assist. This brought the total number of units working at the scene to five.
According to Islam, the large quantity of empty cartons inside the facility contributed to the severity of the blaze. Paper-based packaging materials are highly combustible and can allow flames to spread quickly, creating additional challenges for firefighters working to contain a fire inside a warehouse or factory.
The cause of the incident has not yet been established. Fire Service officials have also not provided details of the financial losses or the extent of the damage to the facility and its stored materials.
The immediate priority for emergency crews is to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading further. The presence of substantial quantities of combustible materials can complicate firefighting operations, making a swift response particularly important.
Industrial fires can threaten workers, equipment, stored goods and nearby buildings. Adequate storage arrangements, functioning fire safety equipment and clear emergency access routes are among the measures that can help reduce the risks associated with such incidents. However, there is no information yet to suggest what caused Saturday’s fire or whether any safety measures at the facility contributed to the incident.
As operations continue at the Supreme Garments carton facility in Kashimpur, authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the fire or assess the full extent of the damage. No injuries or deaths had been reported at the time of the latest available information.
