Law enforcement officers in Natore have apprehended Mizanur Rahman, widely known as Mizan, a former municipal councillor and local political leader, following a targeted operation on Saturday morning.

The arrest took place during a special drive conducted by the Singra police in the Damdama Sluice Gate area under the Singra municipality. Police identified the detainee as the Organising Secretary of the Singra Pourashava Awami League and a former councillor representing Ward No. 2. He is the son of Muktadudur Rahman, residing in the North Damdama village.

According to police sources, intelligence gathered prior to the drive indicated that the suspect had been attempting to mobilise members and activists of the banned Awami League. Authorities stated that he was actively organising virtual gatherings via online platforms to coordinate and plan potential acts of sabotage and public disturbance.

Confirming the operation, Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Singra Police Station, stated that a formal case regarding sabotage had been registered against the suspect. Following his arrest, police completed standard booking procedures before transferring him to court custody for further judicial proceedings.
