A violent clash between law enforcement officers and suspected narcotics operatives near the Isdair Rail Line in Fatullah, Narayanganj, left three police personnel and a suspect injured on Saturday afternoon. Police managed to apprehend two individuals at the scene, including one who sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter, and seized a loaded handgun.

The confrontation broke out at around 3:00 PM when a team from Fatullah Model Police Station executed an emergency raid following intelligence regarding an ongoing armed turf war. Local narcotics syndicates had assembled near the Dhaka-Narayanganj railway tracks in Isdair to assert control over the territory, triggering an exchange of gunfire between rival factions. Upon encountering the police unit, the suspects fired directly at the officers and hurled heavy bricks and stones to disrupt the police perimeter.

Mohammad Mahbub Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Fatullah Model Police Station, confirmed that officers returned fire in self-defence to neutralize the violent escalation. Following a short chase through the railway corridor, police detained two primary suspects: 24-year-old Jasim, son of local figure Razzak, and 23-year-old Mohan, son of Abdus Salam, both residents of Isdair.

Jasim sustained two gunshot wounds to his leg during the exchange of fire. Officers recovered a loaded pistol from his possession before rushing him under police guard to the 250-bed Narayanganj General Hospital (locally referred to as the 300-bed Hospital). Dr Apu Kumar Saha, an emergency physician at the facility, noted that Jasim was admitted around 3:45 PM with entry wounds consistent with gunfire, ordering immediate radiological scans to check for retained bullet fragments.

Three police officers were also injured while attempting to subdue the suspects amidst heavy debris. Sub-Inspectors Md. Shafiq and Bandhan Chandra Sarkar, along with Constable Rashedul, received emergency treatment at the same medical facility for injuries sustained during the assault.

Local intelligence indicates that drug distribution and youth gang networks across Isdair are largely spearheaded by Razzak and his two sons, Jasim and Waseem. The family has a history of violent clashes and repeated police interventions:

• April Operations: Law enforcement arrested Razzak and his younger son, 22-year-old Md. Waseem, recovering 53 rounds of live ammunition.

• Airport Interception: Days prior to the April drive, police intercepted Jasim near Dhaka Airport, seizing two illicit firearms.

• Bail and Recurrence: All three family members recently secured court bail and attempted to forcibly reclaim their former drug turf.

This aggressive push triggered a territorial dispute with Shakil, a rival narcotics dealer, culminating in an earlier armed skirmish on 7 August. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Tareq Al Mehdi reaffirmed that law enforcement will identify and prosecute every individual involved in the attack on police officers as anti-narcotics operations continue across the Isdair region.
