A tragic incident has shaken the Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur, where the lifeless bodies of two young children were recovered from a pond fourteen hours after they first vanished. The grim discovery unfolded in the early hours of Monday, specifically at around 2:30 am, within Madhya Nakshi village in the Kolaspur union.

The victims have been identified as seven-year-old Rohan, the son of Hazrat Ali, and six-year-old Ismail, the son of Ebadul Islam. Both boys lived in the same village where the fatal accident took place.

According to local accounts, the children stepped out of their respective homes around midday on Sunday. When hours passed without any sign of their return, their families grew deeply anxious. Relatives, neighbours, and local residents immediately launched an exhaustive search across the village roads, fields, and surrounding areas. Despite scouring the neighbourhood well into the night, no trace of the boys could be found, intensifying the panic and despair of the grieving families.

The desperate search finally came to a tragic end during the dead of night. At approximately 2:30 am, local villagers noticed two small bodies floating on the surface of a village pond. Word spread quickly, drawing a crowd of shocked residents to the water’s edge before the remains were pulled ashore.

An atmosphere of profound grief has descended upon Madhya Nakshi village following the sudden loss of the two young lives. Relatives remain inconsolable, struggling to comprehend how the midday outing turned into an overnight nightmare.

Officer-in-Charge Ashrafuzzaman of Nalitabari Police Station formally confirmed the incident, though immediate details regarding the exact sequence of events leading up to the drowning remained limited.
