IFIC Bank Launches New Islamic Banking Identity

IFIC Bank PLC, a prominent financial institution in Bangladesh, has officially launched its new Islamic Banking logo and corporate slogan as part of a strategic initiative to consolidate its Sharia-based operations. The unveiling, which took place on Monday, 27 April 2026, was accompanied by the simultaneous inauguration of five dedicated Islamic banking windows and the establishment of service desks across the bank’s extensive nationwide network.

The ceremony was held at the multipurpose hall of the IFIC Tower in the capital, where the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Md. Mehmood Husain, served as the chief guest. During the proceedings, the Chairman formally introduced the new visual identity for the Islamic division and announced the accompanying slogan: “Combination of Purity and Blessing” (translated from the Bengali Shuddhota O Borokoter Somonnoy).

Expanding the Islamic Banking Infrastructure

The primary objective of this expansion is to provide customers with more efficient, rapid, and effective access to Sharia-compliant financial products. By integrating dedicated Islamic banking service desks into existing branches and sub-branches, IFIC Bank aims to streamline the customer experience for those seeking interest-free banking solutions.

The inauguration of five specific Islamic banking windows marks a significant step in the bank’s transition towards a more robust dual-banking model. These windows are designed to operate under strict Sharia principles, ensuring that all transactions, investments, and deposits are overseen by the bank’s internal Sharia Supervisory Committee to maintain compliance with Islamic jurisprudence.

Leadership Perspectives on Market Growth

In his keynote address, Chairman Md. Mehmood Husain highlighted the optimistic outlook for the Islamic finance sector in Bangladesh. He remarked that the demand for Sharia-compliant services is witnessing substantial growth, reflecting the cultural and ethical preferences of a significant portion of the population.

“The demand and growth of Islamic banking in Bangladesh are highly promising,” the Chairman stated. “By leveraging the strong network of IFIC Bank, the youth will be the driving force behind the expansion of this sector. Our goal is to strengthen the skills of our young workforce and enhance the quality of customer-friendly services through proper guidance.”

The Managing Director of IFIC Bank, Syed Mansur Mustafa, provided further context regarding the bank’s long-term digital and product roadmap. He noted that the introduction of the new branding and service desks is merely a phase in a broader expansion plan. He informed the audience that the bank intends to introduce more innovative and demand-driven Islamic financial products to the market in the near future to meet the evolving needs of modern consumers.

Attendees and Conclusion of the Ceremony

The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including the Deputy Managing Directors and various departmental heads of IFIC Bank. The ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Mohammad Jamal Uddin, the Head of the Islamic Banking Division, who expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for their support in achieving this operational milestone.

IFIC Bank PLC, which operates as one of the largest private commercial banks in the country with a vast network of over 1,400 branches and sub-branches, continues to position itself as a provider of “neighbourhood banking.” The integration of Sharia-compliant desks across this network is expected to increase financial inclusion by reaching customers who previously remained outside the formal banking system due to religious considerations.

The bank’s strategic shift reflects a broader trend within the Bangladeshi banking industry, where traditional commercial banks are increasingly adopting “windows” or “wings” for Islamic finance to capture a larger share of a market that currently accounts for approximately one-third of the total domestic banking sector.
