Bangladesh’s celebrated rock musician Mahfuz Anam James is set to return to the stage for a major ticketed concert in Dhaka on Friday (23 October), performing alongside several of the country’s most prominent bands at Jamuna Future Park.
The concert, titled ‘Rock N Rhythm 5.0: No Limits in the Zone’, will take place at the Carnival Arena inside the shopping complex, bringing together some of the most recognisable names in Bangladesh’s rock music scene.
James, widely admired for his powerful vocals and distinctive stage presence, will headline the event with his band Nagar Baul. His appearance is particularly significant as it marks his return to a ticketed concert in Bangladesh after a considerable interval.
Speaking ahead of the performance, James expressed enthusiasm about reconnecting with his home audience.
“I am performing at a ticketed concert in the country after a long time. I hope the audience will get to hear and see something new,” he said.
His remarks have raised expectations among fans eager to experience his live performance and discover what surprises the veteran musician may have planned.
According to a Facebook announcement by the organiser, Adventor Communication, the concert will feature an impressive line-up of established Bangladeshi bands, including Nagar Baul, Ark, Warfaze, Aurthohin and Shunno.
Each group has developed a distinctive musical identity over the years, contributing to the growth and popularity of Bangladesh’s band music culture.
The presence of these five bands on a single stage is expected to offer audiences a varied musical experience, combining different styles of rock music with performances by artists representing different generations.
Another major attraction will be acclaimed guitarist Oni Hasan, who is scheduled to deliver a special performance alongside Warfaze.
Hasan is also expected to present a solo guitar performance, providing an additional highlight for enthusiasts of instrumental rock music.
Musician AK Rahul is also among the performers announced for the concert, adding another dimension to the evening’s programme.
James remains one of the most influential figures in Bangladesh’s modern band music history. His distinctive singing style, emotionally charged performances and enduring popularity have helped him maintain a strong connection with audiences across generations.
Through Nagar Baul, he has established a musical identity that continues to resonate with both longstanding admirers and younger listeners.
Ark, Warfaze, Aurthohin and Shunno have similarly played important roles in shaping the country’s contemporary band music landscape.
Their participation reflects the continuing appeal of live rock performances in Bangladesh, where established bands retain considerable popularity alongside emerging musical talent.
The inclusion of Oni Hasan is particularly noteworthy for guitar enthusiasts, given his association with the country’s rock music scene and his reputation for technically accomplished performances.
With several prominent bands sharing the stage, the event offers an opportunity for audiences to experience different musical approaches within a single concert.
The Carnival Arena at Jamuna Future Park, one of Dhaka’s major shopping and entertainment destinations, will host the gathering.
For many music enthusiasts, the biggest attraction remains James’s return to a ticketed domestic performance. His suggestion that audiences may experience something new has added anticipation to the event, although specific details of any surprises have not been disclosed.
The concert is expected to bring together dedicated followers of the participating bands and listeners interested in experiencing Bangladesh’s rock music culture through live performances.
With Nagar Baul, Ark, Warfaze, Aurthohin and Shunno on the bill, alongside special appearances by Oni Hasan and AK Rahul, ‘Rock N Rhythm 5.0: No Limits in the Zone’ promises an evening centred on the enduring popularity and musical diversity of Bangladesh’s rock scene.
